Install voices

Voice Control utilizes the voices supported by your web browser to read text aloud.

The availability of preinstalled voices may differ based on the version of the operating system and the web browser. To expand the range of available voices, you have the option to install supplementary voice packs on your computer.

Special notes about macOS

It is important to note that the availability of voices on an operating system can be restricted for specific use cases. For example, Siri voices on macOS are primarily designed for Apple-related contexts and may not be accessible for general use in all applications, including Chrome.

Determining which voices are allowed to appear in the browser can be challenging as there is no straightforward way to know this information. It can depend on various factors such as the operating system, application settings, and integration with voice services. The best way to find out is to try it out.
